This Weeks Dover Design Sampler

This week, Dover is showcasing Japanese art. You can get on the mailing list for free images each week at
The sampler shows images from 12 different books.
I wonder how many hours are in this  peacock embroidery....
(click to enlarge and see detail)

I miss seeing hanging pots of Fuchsia's here in the south. It gets too hot here for them.
They even grow in flower beds in Oregon.
Southern Jasmine is a good trade off however.

Feel free to click and save these for your artwork.
I have never made anything with a Japanese style, theme, or look, but there is something soothing going on here.
I have watched demonstrations of Japanese painting ,,,on tv, or at the fair...its been so long, but I do remember it was intriguing, and fast, with wonderful brushes.
 Enjoy!

Victoria Bliss

Victoria Bliss arrived yesterday. This is my favorite page and article, by Susan J. Gordon. The article is titled "Giving Thanks"
Susan talks of six generations of her family coming to this great country.
On another page, Susan shows her Grandmother in her wedding dress,,,what a beauty!

The rest of the magazine is Christmas oriented, and quite wonderful.
I am just not quite ready for Christmas at this point.
That is the nice thing about favorite magazines...you can pick them up later and get inspiration all over again.
Blessings in your day!

Moving....things

The moving "down", should be easier than the moving "up", as long as you are at the top.

Buying a HOUSE.... Yikes!!

Yikes is right ! Still working on the deal, but we should close at the end of the month. Tons of work ahead in the months to come, so I may not be posting too much here. It's been all I could do in the last month to post much more that pictures to share. I love this old movie, and it came to mind, as I am thinking of painting,,,so many colors to choose from these days. Life used to be simpler,,or was it? Enjoy....

The first video is about 10min,,,the second is about 1 min and shows the Blandings house from the outside.

Mr. Blandings house "is" a dream. Here is my reality. I call it Birchfield, it was built in the early 1960's.
Tri leval, good bones as they say. I hope to move again, but not for a good while.

Gratitude and Goodies

Thursday is a good day for Choc-o-late,,right? Of course!
www.joyofbaking.com will tell you all about this Italian biscuit/cookie, and give you  recipes.

This is my favorite time of year, sunny "cool" crisp dry days that energize.
I am glad the humid summer is over.
Maybe its time for, "stink up the house" Cabbage Creole...hummm...The smell of baking sounds better.

I have much to be grateful for this day.
I have much to thank God for, and much to pray about.
Blessings in your day!
